Open to Everything, Attached to Nothing

The mind, which calcifies with age, can only reverse this process by unlearning and staying open. Becoming an expert at life means cutting off most of life. The expert can only see certain things, say certain things, believe certain things. We think we have learned our lessons and keep refining these axioms until we only have one street to walk down, one vista, one friend. There is a sutble but important difference between wisdom and stodginess. What is the difference? Wisdom knows it can only be applied in one moment.

We define ourselves against the categories of people we are introduced to. We define ourselves against others, this is simple enough. But what if I were not to belong to any category? What if I couldn’t be defined against all these others? What if I had no idea who I was or could be, because I had never been given correct information? What if this were the case for all of us? What could we do with this awareness? And how could we remedy this situation?
